The Grand Mesa is one of the great snowmobiling destinations in America — the world's largest flat-top mountain, with hundreds of miles of groomed trails and off-trail powder zones sitting at 9,000 to 11,000 feet, 45 minutes from our Grand Junction store. We're the closest dealer to it, which means every machine we recommend gets tested by our own customers on that mountain every weekend all winter.
The right sled depends entirely on which Mesa you ride: the groomed-trail Mesa or the off-trail powder Mesa.
If you're leaving the groomers — and on a Mesa powder day you'll want to — this is Ski-Doo Summit and Polaris RMK territory: long tracks with big paddles, narrow bodies for sidehilling, and mountain-specific ergonomics. At Mesa altitude the factory-turbo trims (Summit Turbo R, RMK with Patriot Boost) are worth every penny, because a naturally aspirated motor leaves a big chunk of its power at sea level.
Riding the groomed system with family, or splitting time between trails and the occasional meadow? A crossover like the Ski-Doo MXZ or Polaris Indy XC with a mid-length track is more comfortable, more stable at trail speeds, and cheaper. It won't climb like a Summit off-trail, but on the groomed network it's the better, less tiring machine.
Deep-snow sleds sell out across the Western Slope by early winter every single year. Spring pre-orders get exact spec; early-fall buyers get our in-stock units; December shoppers get whatever's left, which is usually not the popular trims. Our pre-order pages show what's coming for the next season.
Off-trail Mesa riders: Summit or RMK, turbo if the budget allows. Groomed-trail riders: MXZ or Indy XC and pocket the difference. Not sure which rider you are yet? Start on the trail sled — it holds value, and we'll take it in trade when the powder bug bites.

For off-trail riding at Mesa altitude, a factory turbo is the difference between full power and roughly three-quarters of it. For groomed trails, no — save the money.
The main staging areas are along Highway 65 on top of the Mesa — County Line and Mesa Top are the busiest. Ask us in-store and we'll mark up a map for the zones that fit your sled and skill level.
Yes — both stores service sleds all year, and summer is the smart time for maintenance and studding before the fall rush.
